For five years, Rose Durupt has brought kindness, compassion and a welcoming presence to Carman Wellness Connections (CWC).

As Rose steps away from her role as Office Administrator, we’re celebrating the difference she’s made in our community. Her contributions extend beyond helping people access resources. She’s also helped create a place where people feel heard, respected and supported.
Making Everyone Feel Welcome
Rose’s journey with CWC began as a board member before she transitioned into her staff role. Over the years, she became a familiar face to community members seeking support, guidance or simply someone willing to listen.
For Rose, the most rewarding part of her work was connecting people with resources and seeing positive outcomes. However, her impact often went beyond finding the right program or service. She understood the importance of making people feel valued. “That everybody matters,” she said when reflecting on her experience. “You have no idea what is going on in people’s lives, but give them the time of day. Having a conversation may make the difference.”
That belief guided Rose’s approach to her work and helped create a welcoming environment at CWC.
Building Trust Through Compassion
Rose’s connection to CWC was also personal. Having accessed community resources herself, she understood how important those supports can be. She wanted to help others find programs such as Food Currency and grocery vouchers. More importantly, she wanted people to feel comfortable asking for help.
One of Rose’s proudest accomplishments was earning the trust of CWC clients. “That took a while for some,” she shared.
Building those relationships required patience, kindness and consistency. Over time, Rose became someone people knew they could turn to.
Her experience at CWC also helped her grow personally. When asked what she gained that she hadn’t expected, her answer was simple: self-confidence.
Encouraging Others to Get Involved
Rose encourages anyone considering volunteering or joining CWC to give it a try. “Just do it, it’s fun,” she said.
Her advice to new board members is equally straightforward. “Don’t be shy. Get involved. Join a Working Group.”
For Rose, community involvement is about showing up, building relationships and making a difference in people’s lives.
Looking Ahead
Although Rose is stepping away from her staff role, she still has big hopes for CWC’s future. One of her dreams is a welcoming, centralized community space. She envisions somewhere people can gather for coffee, soup and conversation while accessing food and clothing resources.
Above all, she wants a place where nobody feels alone. It’s a vision that reflects the compassion and connection Rose has brought to CWC throughout her time with the organization.
When asked to describe her experience in exactly six words, Rose chose:
“The best time of my life.”
Rose, thank you for the care, humour, honesty and compassion you’ve shared with Carman Wellness Connections. You’ve made a difference in the lives of many community members, and your contributions won’t be forgotten.
We wish you nothing but the best in your next chapter.
